Apple Store Opens in Perth

Today was the momentous day when, finally, little old Perth got its own Apple Store.

The day started at -0.6C in the middle of winter, by 8.15am I was in the queue ready for the 9am store opening.
I was amazed how many people were there, hundreds of Perth peeps, in a city that, as far as I could tell, never really showed any interest in Apple.

At 8.50am the whooping and cheering started as the Apple Store staff ran along the line of waiting Apple fans, high-fiving as many as they could.
The crowd shuffled forward and at 9am the first customers were greeted with more cheering as they entered the store.
It was crowded inside. I wanted to check out and buy the new Mac Mini, but I gave up trying to find one on display and just went straight into the purchase, oh and I picked up a set of Sennheiser earbuds for my husband.

A charmingly helpful guy call Matt served me, he was a trainer on loan from Sydney for the opening.

A short while later I was leaving the store with my latest Apple toy, the new Mac Mini and it was time to find a hot coffee!

In My Dreams

Today I bought a 27" iMac Quad Core i7 for my husband's birthday.
Before he could be allowed anywhere near it I subtly suggested that the new toy should spend a day or two on my desk, just so that I could install the additional software that every new Mac needs.
I'm desperately trying to think of other reasons it should stay longer on MY desk!

Stupid Stupid Me...

Yep, a few days ago I bleated on Twitter about my iPhone not syncing iCal events via MobileMe.

I said I had checked all my settings within the iPhone.
I tried repeatedly to get iCal events to sync between my MacBook Pro and my iPhone but - No Joy!

Then, today while aimlessly meandering my way through the iPhone settings, I came across the On/Off switch for syncing calendars.

There it was - in my MobileMe email account settings!

I have to admit that originally I didn't think to check the email account settings!

A couple of forced syncs later and all appears to be humming along nicely once again.

Oh well, I live and learn and oh boy, do I keep on learning!

AppleCare is Number One For Me

The AppleCare iPhone Protection Plan worked for me!

One faulty iPhone > One phone call to Apple > One week later a replacement iPhone received and faulty iPhone returned to Apple.

The whole process was simple and all costs were covered by AppleCare.
One happy customer!

I just wish every Apple owner with a faulty product had such an easy replacement experience.
See my earlier blog posts for the full faulty iPhone story.

Replacement iPhone Arrives

Six days after my initial reporting of a faulty iPhone to Apple, the replacement iPhone arrives.
All I need to do is erase all data and settings and remove the sim card from the faulty iPhone and return it to Apple in the box provided.

The box contained all the necessary paperwork and labels for the simple return (postage paid) of the faulty iPhone to Apple.

edit: I re-recorded the audio for the video, the original was far too quiet!
